Abstract As a result of the serious economic crisis that the country has been facing, this article discusses the incidents that informal workers face on a daily basis, recognizing that they are not restricted to the concrete and objective scope, such as: the lack of legal and bureaucratic support on the part of their occupational functions; physical circumstances and the work environment; access to goods, among others, but also to the symbolic and cultural aspect of this process. From the psychosocial point of view, the individual is protected by the social, compulsory, political, and cultural spheres, characterized by a dynamic and dialectical system, appropriating symbolic elements giving definitions and meanings to his activities as part of his formation in the world. Thus, the proposal presented has as its main objective to discuss the phenomenon of informality from a psychosocial perspective, through a narrative bibliographical review, from an attentive look at the changes in the socio-political and economic scenario of the country in recent years, as well as the breadth of new forms of work, keeping in mind the heterogeneity of contexts. The results point to the scientific challenges related to the theme, identify some psychosocial risks related to informal work - such as degraded social relationships; lack of social support; insecurities at work; unpredictability regarding remuneration; feeling of vulnerability and disposability - and calls for suggestions regarding intervention models.

Resumen Como resultado de la grave crisis económica que enfrenta el país, este artículo discute los impactos a los que los trabajadores informales están expuestos diariamente, reconociendo que no se limitan al ámbito concreto y objetivo, como, por ejemplo: la falta de respaldo legal y burocrático por parte de sus funciones ocupacionales; circunstancias físicas y del ambiente de trabajo; acceso a mercancías, entre otros, sino también al aspecto simbólico y cultural de este proceso. Desde una perspectiva psicosocial, el individuo, que está constituido por esferas sociales, económicas, políticas y culturales, caracterizado por un sistema dinámico y dialéctico, se apropia de los elementos simbólicos otorgándoles sentido y significado a sus actividades como parte de su formación en el mundo. De esta manera, la propuesta presentada tiene como objetivo principal discutir el fenómeno de la informalidad desde una perspectiva psicosocial, a través de una revisión bibliográfica narrativa, prestando atención a los cambios en el escenario socio-político y económico del país en los últimos años, así como a la amplitud de las nuevas formas de trabajo, teniendo en cuenta la heterogeneidad de los contextos. Los resultados señalan los desafíos científicos relacionados con el tema, identifican algunos riesgos psicosociales relacionados con el trabajo informal - como relaciones sociales degradadas; falta de apoyo social; inseguridad en el trabajo; imprevisibilidad en cuanto a la remuneración; sentimiento de vulnerabilidad y desechabilidad - y sugieren modelos de intervención.

Resumo Em decorrência da grave crise econômica a qual o país vem enfrentando, o presente artigo discute os impactos a que trabalhadores informais se veem diariamente expostos, reconhecendo que não se restringem ao âmbito concreto e objetivo, como, por exemplo: a falta de respaldo legal e burocrático por parte de suas funções ocupacionais; circunstâncias físicas e do ambiente de trabalho; acesso a mercadorias, entre outros, mas também, ao aspecto simbólico e cultural desse processo. Sob a ótica psicossocial, o indivíduo constituído pelas esferas sociais, econômicas, políticas e culturais, caracterizado por um sistema dinâmico e dialético, apropria-se dos elementos simbólicos conferindo sentidos e significados às suas atividades como parte de sua formação no mundo. Dessa forma, a proposta apresentada tem como objetivo principal discutir o fenômeno da informalidade sob a ótica psicossocial, por meio de revisão bibliográfica narrativa, a partir de um olhar atento às mudanças do cenário sociopolítico e econômico do país nos últimos anos, assim como a amplitude das novas formas de trabalho, guardando com atenção a heterogeneidade dos contextos. Os resultados apontam para os desafios científicos referentes ao tema, identificam alguns riscos psicossociais relacionados ao trabalho informal - como relações sociais degradadas; falta de suporte social; inseguranças no trabalho; imprevisibilidade quanto à remuneração; sentimento de vulnerabilidade e descartabilidade - e postulam sugestões quanto a modelos de intervenções.

Resumen El objetivo de este trabajo es realizar un análisis empírico de los efectos macroeconómicos de la política macroprudencial y la influencia del régimen monetario sobre esta política en los principales países de América Latina desde 2007 hasta 2019. Los países analizados son Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil, Costa Rica, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, México, Perú y Uruguay, divididos en países con Régimen de Metas de Inflación (RMI) y los que siguen otra estructura monetaria. Para ello se utiliza el método PVAR. En los países con RMI, la política macroprudencial alcanza su objetivo de reducir el crédito y las demás variables macroeconómicas tienen el comportamiento esperado. Por otro lado, la política macroprudencial parece tener impactos contradictorios en los países que no son RMI.

Abstract The objective of this study was to perform an empirical analysis of the macroeconomic effects of macroprudential policies and the influence of monetary regimes on these policies in the main countries of Latin America from 2007 to 2019. The countries analyzed were Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, and Uruguay. They were divided into countries that adopt the Inflation Targeting Regime (ITR) and those that have another monetary structure. For this end, the panel vector autoregression (PVAR) method was used. This paper points out that, in ITR countries, macroprudential policies achieve their goal of reducing credit. Moreover, other macroeconomic variables have the expected behavior. On the other hand, these policies seem to have contradictory impacts on non-ITR countries.

Abstract The relationships among humidity, air temperature, wind, and vertical velocity with formation and propagation of Amazonian squall lines (ASL) is analyzed in this study. One year of data (2005) is verified by counting ASL cases according to their classification (propagated and non-propagated) to understand more clearly how the variation of these variables over this year influences their environment of formation. The results show an increase in humidity on days with ASL, with the highest occurrence during the wettest months. Furthermore, system propagation toward the interior of continent seems to be strongly related to the moisture content that reaches the coast, through the winds that blow from the ocean from both by the Northeast Trade Winds, of the North Atlantic Subtropical High, and by the Southeast Trade Winds, of the South Atlantic Subtropical High. Higher moisture content from the sea corresponds to a higher wind intensity toward the coast. A relationship between continent/ocean temperature gradient and the ASL amount and types formed is also demonstrated. Such information is extremely relevant because of the great importance of these systems in the extreme north and northeast regions of Brazil, particularly at the Amazon, given the difficulty of predicting them due to their complexity.

Abstract This study aimed to investigate the sports career of sitting volleyball athletes who participated in the Brazilian sitting volleyball team at the Paralympics Games in Rio 2016. It is a qualitative, descriptive, exploratory and retrospective research. The sample consisted of four athletes and a questionnaire and a semi-structured interview were used, supported by the timeline. The analysis of the data was made from the Qualitative Content Analysis. We observed that sport as a career appears after physical injury, as part of the rehabilitation process, but sport is not the only source of income due to the instability of the sports career. The apex is the call for the Brazilian team and there is no preparation to the end of sport career. The sports career is a form of rehabilitation and social insertion, at the same time that it is not a full-time job for athletes, who have other jobs.

Resumen El propósito de este trabajo fue investigar la carrera deportiva de mujeres atletas de voleibol sentado que participaron en los Juegos Paralímpicos Rio 2016, con el objetivo de reconocer el recorrido deportivo de las atletas. Se trata de una investigación cualitativa, descriptiva, de carácter exploratorio y retrospectivo. La muestra estuvo compuesta por cuatro atletas y se utilizó un cuestionario, entrevista semiestructurada, con el apoyo del uso de timeline. El análisis de datos se realizó a partir del Análisis de Cualitativo de Contenido. Observamos que el deporte como carrera aparece después de la lesión física, como parte del proceso de rehabilitación. Sin embargo, estas atletas suelen tener doble carrera, debido a la inestabilidad de la carrera deportiva, cuyo ápice es el llamado para integrar la selección brasileña. No se ha identificado que haya una preparación para el término de la carrera deportiva. La carrera deportiva es una forma de rehabilitación e inserción social, pero no es un trabajo a tiempo completo para las atletas, que tienen otros empleos.

Resumo Este trabalho buscou investigar a carreira esportiva de mulheres atletas de voleibol sentado que participaram dos Jogos Paralímpicos Rio 2016, com o objetivo de reconhecer o percurso esportivo das atletas. É uma pesquisa qualitativa, descritiva, de caráter exploratório e retrospectivo. A amostra foi composta por quatro atletas, foi utilizado questionário, entrevista semiestruturada, apoiados pelo uso de timeline. A análise dos dados foi realizada a partir da Análise Qualitativa do Conteúdo. Observamos que o esporte enquanto carreira aparece após a lesão física, como parte do processo de reabilitação. No entanto, há dupla carreira profissional para essas atletas devido à instabilidade da carreira esportiva, sendo o ápice quando há convocação para a seleção brasileira. Não foi identificado um preparo para o encerramento da carreira esportiva. A carreira esportiva é uma forma de reabilitação e inserção social, ao mesmo tempo em que não se configura como trabalho de dedicação integral das atletas, que têm outros empregos.

Abstract Introduction: Left ventricular dysfunction after surgical treatment of mitral stenosis is uncommon. We intend to determine the pattern of left ventricular remodeling, shortly after open mitral valve replacement for rheumatic mitral stenosis, with in-hospital postoperative outcomes and the determinants of postoperative worsening of left ventricular ejection fraction. Methods: From January 2008 to January 2015, 107 adult patients with rheumatic mitral stenosis were submitted to open mitral valve replacement. Their mean age was 45±11 years and 93 (86.9%) were women. Left ventricular morphology and function were studied longitudinally with echocardiography. The end point was postoperative worsening of left ventricular ejection fraction, defined by a decrease of 10% compared to preoperative basal assessment. Determinants of worsening left ventricular ejection fraction were determined by multivariable logistic regression analysis. Results: The end point occurred in 18 patients (16.8%). We tested clinical and echocardiographic parameters to verify independent variables related to the decrease in postoperative ejection fraction. Lower body weight (P=0.005; odds ratio [OR]=0.89) and smaller preoperative mitral valve area (P=0.02; OR=0.02) were independent predictors of left ventricular dysfunction. These patients presented higher mortality and morbidity rates. Conclusion: Left ventricular remodeling patterns differed among patients with predominant rheumatic mitral stenosis undergoing open mitral valve replacement. Lower preoperative body weight and mitral valve area were independent determinants of deteriorating ejection fraction with increased end-systolic volumes, indicating that this specific problem may occur in anthropometric smaller patients with more extensive rheumatic disease.

Resumo: Muitas vezes os pesquisadores educacionais se interessam pelas diferenças linguístico-culturais que os estudantes imigrantes trazem à escola, negligenciando a proeminência da cidadania legal e cultural para a formação da identidade e a participação em sala de aula. Além disso, em geral rotulam as crianças (i)migrantes como estudantes e aprendizes de língua inglesa ou, (mais raramente) bilíngues emergentes. Esta rotulação estreita dificulta evidenciar determinados aspectos das complexas vivências dos estudantes, com implicações importantes para a aprendizagem. Este artigo destaca evidências antropológicas para apresentar maneiras mais holísticas de representar e discutir as vivências de famílias imigrantes em um mundo globalizado. Este artigo questiona: como uma perspectiva antropológica sobre famílias transnacionais pode nos ajudar a compreender como a imigração modela a vida educacional das crianças? Assim, abordo como as constelações transnacionais de cuidado como abordagem metodológica contribuem para discussões continuadas sobre equidade e pertencimento em estudos no campo educacional.

Abstract: Educational researchers often foreground the linguistic-cultural differences that immigrant students bring to school, overlooking the salience of legal and cultural citizenship for identity formation and classroom participation. Moreover, they usually frame (im)immigrant children as students and English language learners, or (more rarely) emergent bilinguals. This narrow framing obscures certain aspects of students’ complex experiences, with important implications for learning. This article leverages anthropological evidence to present more holistic ways of representing and discussing immigrant families’ experiences in a globalized world. This article asks: how can an anthropological perspective on transnational families help us understand how immigration shapes the educational lives of children? Thus, I address how transnational care constellations as a methodological approach contribute to ongoing discussions about equity and belonging in educational scholarship.

Resumo O mundo está testemunhando uma era de mobilidade humana sem precedentes: os migrantes internacionais aumentaram de 100 milhões em 1960 para 155 milhões em 2000 e para 214 milhões em 2010 (UNDESA). No entanto, dá-se pouca importância à forma como a migração e a educação interagem para influenciar a mobilidade social e econômica. Este artigo considera a relação entre migração e educação. Na primeira seção, recorremos à teorização antropológica da mobilidade e da cidadania para propor uma estrutura conceitual para o tema. Em seguida, examinamos a pesquisa de três fluxos de migração: jovens de ascendência haitiana que vivem na República Dominicana, colombianos no Equador, e filhos de mães mexicanas que migraram para os Estados Unidos. As análises desses casos enfatizam a importância do acesso e da inclusão, as escolas como locais-chave para governar os sujeitos, e as estratégias desenvolvidas pelos migrantes para assegurar a escolarização. Na conclusão, esboçamos orientações para futuras pesquisas que permitiriam uma análise mais forte das relações entre educação e migração e o desenvolvimento de Migração e Educação como campo de investigação.

Abstract The world is witnessing an era of unprecedented human mobility: International migrants grew from 100 million in 1960 to 155 million in 2000, and to 214 million in 2010 (UNDESA). However, there is insufficient attention to how migration and education interact to influence social and economic mobility. This article considers the relationship between migration and education. In the first section, we draw upon anthropological theorizing of mobility and citizenship to propose a conceptual framework for the topic. We then examine research from three migration flows: youth of Haitian descent living in the Dominican Republic, Colombians in Ecuador, and children of Mexican mothers who have migrated to the United States. The analyses of these cases emphasize the importance of access and inclusion, schools as key sites for governing subjects, and the strategies developed by migrants to secure schooling. In the conclusion, we outline directions for future research that would enable a stronger analysis of the relationships between education and migration and the development of Migration and Education as a field of inquiry.

It is a quantitative study performed from September/2005 to January/2006. The objective was to characterize the ostomates registered at the Ostomate Association of Paraná State (APO in Portuguese). From 1538 analyzed forms, 477 were selected with complete data. According to sex, 53.7% of the ostomates were male, and 46.3% were female; from 0 to 45 years old, there was predominance of male patients, 63.9%. As for the reasons of the surgical procedure, at the age of 0 to 45 years old, the study points out external causes as an implication for the ostomy procedure, standing for 20% of the total surgeries. However, at ages above 45 years old, 51.4% of the population was female, and intestinal neoplasm was responsible for about 51% of the ostomies. Colostomies accounted for 65.4% of the procedures. It is suggested the study continuation in order to contribute for the identification of ostomates' educational needs.

Este es un estudio cuantitativo realizado en el periodo de septiembre de 2005 a enero de 2006. El objetivo fue caracterizar los portadores de ostomias, con catastro en la Asociación Paranaense de los Ostomizados (APO). Fueron analizados 1538 prontuarios de la APO y de estes fueron elejidos 477 con datos completos. En relacón al sexo, 53,7% dos "ostomizados" eran del masculino y 46,3% del femenino. Cuanto al motivo de la intervención quirúrgica, en la franja etaria de 0 a 45 años, el estudio apunta para las causas externas como una implicación para la realización de las ostomias, lo que representa 20% del total de intervenciones realizadas. Sin embargo en la franja etaria de más de 45 años, 51,4% de esta población era del sexo femenino, siendo las neoplasias intestinales responsables por la concretización de aproximadamente 51% de las ostomías. Las colostomías representam 65,4% de los procedimientos realizados. Se recomienda continuación del estudio a fin de contribuir en la identificación de las necesidades educativas de la clientela.

Entretanto na faixa etária acima de 45 anos, 51,4% desta população eram do sexo feminino, sendo que, as neoplasias intestinais foram responsáveis pela concretização de aproximadamente 51% das ostomias. As colostomias representam 65,4% dos procedimentos realizados. Recomenda-se a continuação do estudo com intuito de contribuir na identificação das necessidades educativas da clientela.

O vírus Influenza A, subtipo H3N8, é o agente etiológico da Influenza Eqüina, responsável por diversas epidemias e endemias respiratórias em nível mundial, inclusive no Estado do Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a importância de eqüídeos errantes, como fontes de infecção do vírus Influenza, subtipo H3N8. A enquete foi realizada a partir da pesquisa de anticorpos específicos para este vírus em 1106 soros analisados através da prova de inibição da hemaglutinação. O elevado percentual (35,9%) de animais soropositivos encontrados evidencia seu papel como uma importante fonte de infecção deste vírus para o rebanho eqüino nacional.

The Influenza virus type A, subtype H3N8, is the etiological agent of the Equine Influenza, responsible for several epidemics and endemic respiratory diseases in world level, besides in the Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil. The objective of this work was to evaluate the role of errant equids, as infectious sources of the Influenza virus, subtype H3N8. The survey was performed from the research of specific antibodies for this virus in 1106 sera analyzed by the inhibition of the hemagglutination test. The high percentile (35,9%) of seropositive animals found in this study evidenced its importance as infectious sources of the Influenza virus, subtype H3N8, to the national equine flock.
